Everton defender Ashley Williams has revealed that he is still angry with himself after failing to score a late header for his side during their 2-0 defeat against Chelsea this weekend.
The Toffees spent heavily on bolstering their side this summer and are hoping to challenge for a place in the top five of the Premier League this season.
This performance however would have done nothing to remove the negative tag which they have of being unable to deliver against bigger teams.
Though there is no shame in losing to Antonio Conte’s men, especially as they are reigning Premier League Champions, Ronald Koeman will know that his side will need to start beating bigger teams regularly if they wish to become a side that can challenge for major trophies.
Williams said following the game, “We had chances to get it back to 2-1 – if I had scored that header, then we might have got another one.
“My shot was just a bit of a hit and hope. But the header I should definitely have scored, I don’t know how I didn’t. I tried to get contact on the ball but it went wide.
“That frustrated me because if we had got a goal then it would have been an interesting end to the game.”
