According to The Mirror, Arsenal winger and Liverpool-target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might have played his last game for the Gunners, as he’s keen to leave north London having turned down a final contract offer worth £180,000-a-week.
The 24-year-old has a year left on his current contract, and despite the club’s stance on not willing to sell, his refusal to put pen to paper has made them given up.
Arsenal are now ready to let the England international go before Thursday, but suitors must offer nothing less than £35million to have a chance.
Chelsea are also keen on Chamberlain, but like Liverpool, they are yet to make an official bid. The Reds, though, are closely monitoring the situation.
Following Arsenal’s 4-nil loss to Liverpool on Sunday, the former Southampton utility player might be further tempted into agreeing a move to Anfield.
The lure of Champions League football is also another attraction, with the steady development the Reds are undergoing under German manager Jurgen Klopp evident to all and Sundry.
Chamberlain’s versatility could come very handy for Liverpool, and with James Milner ageing, he could become their long-term utility player.
The strong and fast dribbler can play in the middle of the park, on the wings and at left-back. Chamberlain would be a great cover and competition in as many as 3 roles should Liverpool emerge top in the race to land him.
