Robert Snodgrass has revealed that he was unhappy playing under Slaven Bilic at West Ham and that he waited to get out of the club.
The 29-year-old Snodgrass joined the Hammers in January from Hull City and failed to establish himself at the club. He went on to play 15 Premier League games for the club and did not find the back of the net.
After being deemed surplus to requirements at the club, the Scotland international has joined Aston Villa on loan for this season. He has now revealed that he was unable to play well for the Hammers because he was used out of position.
He said, “I went to West Ham and I had a manager that played me out of position. To be honest with you it was very tough to take. Sometimes, with the way you’ve been brought up, you try to just put your heart on your sleeve and play anywhere.
“To get the best out of any player you need to play him in his best position, it’s as simple as that. I’ve done it my full career. I’ve scored goals, created goals everywhere I’ve been.”
