Another Leeds’ fans favorite reportedly could leave for the Premier League before deadline day

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds goalie Rob Green could call time on his one-season Elland Road career in the coming days as he is wanted at Huddersfield Town.

The 37-year-old ex-England international played all 46 Championship games for the Whites last term, but is set to play second fiddle to summer arrival Felix Wiedwald, who has emerged as manager Thomas Christiansen’s first-choice.

Huddersfield’s manager David Wagner wants reliable cover and competition for loan signing Jonas Lossl, and he reckons Green’s experience in the topflight could come handy as the club try to navigate their way through the murky waters and survive.

Green arrived Leeds from Queens Park Rangers last summer on a one-year deal, but had his contract extended by another season at the end of the campaign following an impressive time in goal for the club.

The lure of returning to the Premier League could prove too tempting to turn down for the former Norwich and West Ham shot-stopper, and Leeds’ loss would undoubtedly be Huddersfield Town’s gain should a move go through.

With over 600 league appearances to his name, Green could still prove valuable for Leeds, but considering that Christiansen is preparing for the long term and shaping the squad to his taste, losing the veteran isn’t expected to affect the Whites’ campaign.
