Leeds reportedly want 20-goals-in-44 international outings hotshot, but face competition from Celtic

Leeds have shown interest in permanently signing Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom to replace Chris Wood, but will have to beat Celtic to his available signature, reports The Sun.

The 21-year-old is ready to call time on his 4-season senior team Arsenal career having been restricted to just 4 Gunners appearances in his 67 senior league games.

It’s safe to say Akpom has spent his entire professional career on loan, featuring for Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion since 2013.

Without a doubt, the England youth international has talent for days, with 20 goals in 44 appearances for the English youth teams a huge boost to his c.v.

For Leeds, Akpom could help fill the hole Wood’s exit is bound to create, though it shouldn’t be expected of the youngster to become as prolific as the New Zealand international overnight.

Celtic on the other hand want to provide Mousa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths with striking competition and quality cover, and they recognize the Arsenal academy graduate as the man to help do so.

Akpom’s movement, dribbling, ability to hold on to the ball and contribute defensively to play hint at the fact that he can blossom into a fearsome striker if given the chance.

For whichever side that successfully land him, they would be having a rough gem that could be turned into a real diamond under the right tutelage on their hands.
