In the last week, Steve Bruce has admitted that he and his club are interested in bringing in striker Sam Gallagher of Southampton.
However, the former Manchester United player stated that everyone in the league had been linked to him…
The bad news is that one of those clubs happened to be chief rivals Birmingham City and now, according to the Birmingham Mail, Harry Redknapp’s men are close to getting the loan deal tied up.
This will be a particularly annoying ‘loss’ to go along with some other poor results on the field so far this season. Not only will they seemingly miss out on their man, but they will see him turn up in the opposite color across town instead.
Gallagher would have been an ideal replacement for the likes of Jonathan Kodija and Scott Hogan for now, given his size. He also had a good loan spell last term with Blackburn, so he could have made the step up to Villa.
Instead, he’ll be making that step up to Birmingham- if rumors are to be believed.
