Caixinha believes summer signing can bring both goals and more money to Rangers

According to Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha, summer signing Alfredo Morelos isn’t only capable of firing the club to the top with his goals due to his natural “goalscorer’s instinct”, the 21-year-old also has all the potential to command a fairly large transfer fees going forward.

Morelos arrived Ibronx from Finnish club HJK on a 3-year deal for an undisclosed fee widely reported to be £1million.

The Colombian scored 27 in 42 Veikkausliiga games for HJK during his 2-season stay, and has already opened his Rangers account during the 3-2 loss to Hibernian upper weekend.

Caixinha revealed his admiration and hopes for Morelos thus, “Alfredo is definitely a goalscorer. He showed that in Finland and already his goal ratio is good with us.

“He’s a boy who has anger, desire and passion. He plays for the team and he’s a winner.

“He’ll definitely be worth a lot more money in a few years than we paid for him. With his age and what he’s doing with his passion and desire.

“But we need to give him time because he’s only a young boy. He’s 21 and so far he’s looked very good.”

The Colombia youth international fired blanks during a dour goalless draw against Heart of Midlothian on Saturday.

While the Gers were generally wasteful of many chances, Caixinha will hope his 6th summer signing help the side to their first win of the campaign when they play Ross County away from home next Sunday.

Bitter rivals Celtic are tipped to win a seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title this term and Rangers would hope to emerge runners up with competition for 2nd place even bound to be tighter.

Alfredo Morelos could go a long way in helping them achieve that dream if he manages to fire on all cylinders all season.
