West Ham reportedly on the verge of completing major deal

According to reports, William Carvalho has agreed a five year deal with West Ham and the Hammers are set to pay a fee of £36.5 million to Sporting Lisbon.

West Ham’s defensive frailties showed during their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United as well as during their 3-2 defeat against Southampton this weekend.

They need to desperately bolster the side and Carvalho, who was part of the Portugal team that won Euro 2016, will be a welcome addition to the East London club.

The 25-year-old Carvalho is a product of the Lisbon youth development system and has been long linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United and Arsenal having being reported to have watched him.

Though the Hammers are confident of securing a deal over the coming days, they are currently involved in a standoff with Lisbon, especially so as Carvalho is a key player for the Portuguese giants.
