West Ham attacker Marko Arnautovic issues an apology

West Ham attacker Marko Arnautovic issued an apology to fans of the club after receiving a red card during his team’s 3-2 defeat against Southampton on Saturday.

The Austrian international Arnautovic received his marching orders following a reckless elbow on Jack Stephens and the East London club were forced to play the majority of the game with just ten men.

The defeat means that the Hammers have now lost two Premiership matches in succession following their 4-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester United last weekend. It will also heap pressure on manager Slaven Bilic, who was also criticized by fans last season.

Following the game, the 28-year-old Arnutovic took to Instagram to issue an apology to fans of West Ham. He wrote, “I want to apologise to all the West Ham fans. Just want to let you know I didn’t want to let my team down and you fans. So please, sorry. A big apology to all of you.”
