Newcastle boss Benitez reveals what he has to do in order to sign new players

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that he will need to sell players before making additions to his side this summer.

Benitez openly revealed his frustrations towards Magpies owner Mike Ashley and the club’s board for failing to grant him sufficient funds to bolster the side.

Some have even predicted that the frustrations of the Spanish manager will eventually lead to him parting ways with the Tyneside club.

Spanish international Joselu recently become the sixth new arrival at St. James Park this summer, joining from Stoke.

Benitez’s team fell to a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham last weekend in their opening Premier League game of the new season and they will be aiming for an immediate improvement.

The Spaniard said of the current situation facing the club, “Obviously we have a lot of players we have to move out if we want to move [players] in. It depends on how many we can move in one direction.

“We have to wait and see if this work behind the scenes is good. If we can move players out it will be easier to bring players in. My focus now is to win on Sunday, to get three points and little by little to see where we are.”
