According to Butfootballclub, Newcastle are still very much interested in securing the services of Saint-Etienne attacking midfielder Jonathan Bamba.
The 21-year-old has been on the Magpies’ radar since June, and it seems they are keen on making a serious offer as transfer deadline nears.
Bamba is also attracting interest from La Liga giants Sevilla, while Angers are also hoping to lure him back having had him on loan during the 2nd half of last term.
Bamba has started the Ligue 1 season on an impressive note, registering a goal and an assist in Saint-Etienne’s first 2 fixtures of the campaign.
Having played a huge role in helping his side secure their first 6 points of the campaign, it’s also believed the France youth international has a chance to become a mainstay in manager Oscar Garcia’s plans.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez wants to bolster his attack in order to avoid the drop at the end of season, and he reckons Bamba would make a great addition.
The Geordies could do with more direct football on the flanks, and Bamba’s pace could do a lot of unsettling to Premier League defences.
While he doesn’t boast of the type of quality experience needed to hit the ground running in the topflight, Bamba has the potential to slowly grow into a key player for Newcastle.
Completing a move for him could do a lot of good to the club’s survival chances this season.
