Everton reportedly give up on their pursuit of towering attacker

Giroud

Everton have reportedly given up on signing Olivier Giroud. The Toffees are still looking to sign a new striker before transfer deadline day and had been said to have made Giroud a priority target.

After falling down the pecking order at the Emirates, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is said to have offered Giroud the opportunity to leave the club.

However it now is believed that the Frenchman has opted to stay at the club and fight for a place in the team rather than move.

Koeman will have to now look at other options and according to reports, he is considering moves for Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke as well as Nikola Kalinic of Fiorentina.

Koeman admitted that he is still searching for a new striker and said, “Still we need a striker. Of course, if we don’t get a striker then it is all about young players.

“Everybody knows that we lost Lukaku, we signed Sandro (Ramirez) we know the development of Dominic (Calvert-Lewin) but we need another one who can play the No 9.

“I mentioned before we also don’t have any left footed centre-back back up only Baines. That’s also a position we are looking at to bring someone in.”
