Tottenham are set to face a difficult decision with regards to Kyle Walker-Peters this season.
The youngster was handed his Premier League debut this past weekend against Newcastle United and made the most of the opportunity as he was presented with the man of the match award.
The 20-year-old no doubt surpassed the expectations of many and that performance suggests that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
Walker-Peters was given an opportunity during the weekend as the North London clubs first choice right back Kieran Trippier sustained an injury during pre-season against Juventus.
Following Trippier’s injury, manager Mauricio Pochettino appeared to play down Walker-Peters chances of shining for the club’s first team by saying “he’s very young”.
However following the victory at St James Park during the weekend, Pochettino admitted that his comments had been deliberately misleading.
He said, “I think he’s ready to play. It’s another thing to play every game in the Premier League. We need to be calm with him.”
Spurs will however need to decide whether they want to bring in a new right back or continue using Walker-Peters to provide competition and cover for Trippier.
They have been strongly linked with a move for PSG defender Serge Aurier and should that materialize, the youngster’s playing time could be limited.
