Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky has said that he is content with his side after they pushed “the best side in the League” Wolverhampton Wanderers during their 3-2 defeat on Tuesday.
After investing heavily during the summer, Wolves are expected to launch a promotion push this season. Wolves opened the scoring on the day through a goal from the clubs record signing Ruben Neves.
The Tigers did manage to draw level through a strike from Michael Dawson though Diogo Jota netted to ensure that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men went into half time with a 2-1 lead.
During the second half, Hull wasted chances to draw level as Frazier Campbell and Abel Hernandez missed good opportunities. Nouha Dicko’s strike for Wolves put the game beyond doubt though David Meyler scored a consolation for the Tigers to make the result 3-2.
Despite Slutsky’s team tasting defeat, he stated that he was happy with their efforts, saying, “I am very disappointed with the result but I am very proud but I think we play against the best match in the league now. In this moment they are the best team. Especially in the second half we play much more but I am proud.
“We built a team in a very short time and we can matched Wolves at times. I think we showed the same level at times to them. They never concede before but today we score twice, I deserve a draw I think that would be fair but it’s football and sometimes it’s possible.”
