Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has sad that he believes that Lamine Kone will win a move to the Premier League if he carries on impressing. The 28-year-old Kone’s time at the Stadium of Light has been full of mixed fortunes.
It started well under Sam Allardyce as he helped the club avoid relegation though things started to go pear shaped after a move to Everton failed to go ahead. As he was viewed as a key player for the team, Kone was awarded a new £60,000-a-week contract by the Black Cats whilst David Moyes was manager.
The Ivorian Kone was poor during his club’s 5-0 pre-season defeat at the hands of Celtic as fans booed him. His displays have however improved and he did very well during the sides 3-1 victory over Norwich City during the weekend.
Grayson said of the situation, “While people are still here, if they’re thinking about options to leave, play well and make that happen. Kone? I think he’s up for the fight. By the sounds of it and the way he has played, he has looked very comfortable and shown his true quality.
“That’s the same of Didier (N’Dong) and all the rest of the lads as well. Ultimately it’s about what they’re doing while they’re contracted for us.”
