Leon vs Monterrey Match Preview
Leon has been one of the worst teams in the Liga MX Apertura 2017 but is coming off its first win of the season. La Fiera achieved a 3-0 win against Necaxa away from home last week with goals from Jorge Pereyra, Andres Andrade and club captain Mauro Boselli making the difference in the game. Los Esmeraldas also achieved a 2-2 draw against Cruz Azul the week before that and will be looking to keep this undefeated streak going.
Javier Torrente is still at risk of losing his job if the favorable results do not keep on going as he does have the squad to compete for a playoff spot. It is highly unlikely for Leon to get the three points out of this game but the draw is reasonable, especially playing at home.
Monterrey is currently leading the league with 10 points and is the favorite to take the title based on its performances. Los Rayados are coming off their third win of the season, a dominant 4-1 win against Chivas of Guadalajara at home. This result increased their goal differential to a very impressive seven, three more than Tigres UANL, who has the second-best goal differential in the Liga MX with four.
The imposing offense that features players like Aviles Hurtado, Rogelio Funes Mori, Carlos Sanchez and Dorlan Pabon is the strongest component of the team. Funes Mori, Pabon and Hurtado all scored in the game against Chivas and the offense should lead Antonio Mohamed’s side to another victory in this game.
