Newcastle United star admits he is taking help for anger issues

Newcastle star Jonjo Shelvey is seeing a psychologist in order to help him with his anger problems.

The 25-year-old Shelvey started the new season on a bad note by seeing a red card during his team’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham on Sunday following a reckless challenge on Dele Alli.

Shelvey will now not play again until September 10 and has been criticized for his temper tantrums on the pitch.  He is however aware that he has issues and has been seeing a psychologist to help him with his difficulties following a red card against Nottingham Forest last season.

Shelvey said of his struggles, “Look, sometimes I just need to reign in it in on the football pitch. I need to just shut up and stuff. I need to not get involved and walk away.

“I started to see a psychologist last year to work on the mental side of things. It was after the Forest game. I was sent off. I had kicked out at this lad and it was just childish.”
