According to reports, Newcastle and Liverpool are set to battle in the race to sign Hartlepool wonderkid Connor Simpson.
The bustling style of the 17-year-old has led to him being compared to West Ham ace Andy Carroll and he is currently wanted by a host of top clubs.
Considering that the Premier League duo are interested in the youngster, it is hard to see him remaining at Hartlepool for much longer.
Simpson made two appearances for Hartlepool last season as they were relegated from League 2. There is no doubt that the player will be keen on a move to a club that plays in a higher League to continue his development as a player.
In the end, it is likely to come down to whichever club is able to offer the player a better package. He will likely be drafted into the youth teams of the club that he eventually will end up playing for.
