According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton are ready to hijack AC Milan’s move for Fiorentina frontman Nikola Kalinic, and will table a £23million bid in order to land the striker.
Reportedly, Milan have already agreed personal teams with the Croatian international, but both clubs are yet to reach an agreement on his fees, and Viola have given them till the end of the week to make a worthy bid or move on.
Despite recently acquiring the services of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez, Everton are still in the market for a striker, and they believe long-time target Kalinic, 29, can lead their line in a way Romelu Lukaku did.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker has 27 Serie A goals in 68 appearances with Fiorentina, and already knows one thing or two about the rigors of the Premier League.
However, it’s said he considers a move to Goodison Park as a plan B should a switch elsewhere in the Serie A, preferably Milan, fall through.
Everton kick off their league campaign this weekend as they host Stoke City, and the performances of the current crop of strikers could go a long in way in determining if they can be solely relied upon for the season or not.
