Atlas has been one of the better teams in the Liga MX in the initial stages of this Apertura 2017. The team from Guadalajara is coming off a tough 3-2 loss against Toluca away from home but did have two consecutive victories before that loss. Los Zorros defeated Leon 3-0 away from home in the first week of the tournament and followed that up with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Jalisco.
The home-field advantage is always a significant factor for Los Rojinegros and it could play a role in this clash. Matias Alustiza is one of the main players to watch going into the game as he already has three goals, scoring in every game this season. This is a very important game for Jose Guadalupe Cruz’s team and an exciting encounter is expected.
Club America has also been one of the better sides in this competition with two wins and only one loss. The lone loss for Miguel Herrera came in week 1 against Queretaro but the Mexico City team bounced back after that with wins against Pachuca and Pumas UNAM. Las Aguilas are coming off a monumental 2-1 win against Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Azteca, where the referee may have played a role in America’s win.
Cecilio Dominguez scored his third goal of the Apertura campaign via a penalty to give Club America the win over its Mexico City rivals. Oribe Peralta also scored his first of the season with a beautiful assist from Carlos Darwin Quintero. Los Azulcremas are also coming from a 2-1 win against Potros UAEM in the Copa MX earlier in the week and will be motivated to get another win in this game. The match should be one of the best this weekend and should offer some goals and a spectacle for the fans at the Estadio Jalisco.
