Liverpool reportedly target African star playmaker to replace Coutinho

Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool are bracing up for impact with Philippe Coutinho inches away from joining FC Barcelona.

With a move potentially worth £90million reported, the Reds have identified Ajax playmaking genius Hakim Ziyech as a replacement for the supposedly outbound Brazilian.

The 24-year-old Dutch-born Morocco International is valued at around £18million, and was greatly influential as the Eredivisie giants reached the finals of the Europa League last term.

A deadball specialist par excellence, Ziyech is a great attacking threat as they come.

The former Twente player scored 7 goals and helped teammates to another 11 in 24 Eredivisie games last term.

The attacking midfielder shuffles between the centre and left flank, and while his defensive contributions leave little to be desired, his ability to take out his marker with a piece of skill, thread through balls and passes, and also aim frequent long shots stands him out of the lot.

On paper, Ziyech would be a perfect replacement for Coutinho. However, Ajax are bound to play hard ball over allowing him leave having enjoyed his services for just a single season.
