According to the Mirror, Liverpool are very much interested in acquiring the services of AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar this summer.
However they have Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester City to contend with, as the France international has become one of the most sought after players following his exploits last term.
The Gunners have already had three bids for Lemar knocked back, with Monaco adamantly holding out for £50million.
Liverpool will have to meet that asking price, and Philippe Coutinho’s reported move to Barcelona could help free up funds.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp would have a very challenging task at hand should Coutinho take his leave.
Replacing such a versatile and quality player won’t be easy, but Lemar has the abilities to soften the blow the Brazilian’s exit is bound to land.
The Frenchman bagged 14 Ligue 1 goals and assists last term, receiving his first ever senior national team call up in the process.
Lemar plays on both wings and through the middle just like Coutinho, and his expertise at taking precision-laced set-pieces is well-documented.
He is definitely up to the task of replacing the 24-year-old 2-time Liverpool Player of the Year, but he comes at a huge price; one the Anfield outfit could hesitate to pay.
