Injury prone Newcastle United man expresses his ambition for the season

Newcastle United midfielder Siem De Jong has admitted that he has been disappointed by the progress that he has made with the Magpies but added that he does see a future for himself at the club.

De Jong joined the Magpies in 2014 and since, he has failed to make any impact at the club.  He spent last season on loan with Dutch club PSV and there was speculation suggesting that the Tyneside club could be looking to offload him this summer.

The Dutchman may be given his fair share of opportunities this season though, considering that Rafa Benitez’s side have not managed to recruit another attacking midfielder. He may have to compete with Ayoze Perez for a place in the starting lineup.

Speaking ahead of the start of the season, De Jong admitted that he has been disappointed by the way that things have turned out but wishes to play more regularly for the Magpies by saying, “I will talk to the manager because I want to prove myself at Newcastle.

“I still feel I haven’t started here. It bothers me that I haven’t been able to do that. I wish it was different, but I can’t change that now. I’m disappointed about my years here until now. I want it to be a different story.”
