According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan box-to-box midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has asked to leave the San Siro this summer as he wants to make it with France to Russia 2018.
The 24-year-old has been in and out of Inter’s first XI team sheet since he arrived for £25million from AS Monaco 2 summers ago.
Liverpool, a long-term admirer of the former Sevilla man has been put on red alert following Kondogbia’s desires, and a move for him could be set in motion.
Having lost the fierce battle to prise Naby Keita away from RB Leipzig, Kondogbia could become Liverpool’s contingency plan, though it would be a huge risk considering he has flattered to deceive of recent.
However, considering he is only 24 and can still reach the peak of his potential under a manager like Jurgen Klopp, going for his signature could prove to be a gamble worth taking.
On his day, Kondogbia can be unplayable, with his standout dribbling, passing and tackling skills unrivalled. That he can also play in centre defence and at left-back are bonuses.
As he desperately seeks for a change of scenery to get his career back on track, Anfield could prove to be the perfect grooming ground for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup-winning star.
