Liverpool reportedly eye 27-year-old holding midfielder as Keita alternative

According to Get French Football News, Brittany-based newspaper Le Telegramme claims that Liverpool are readying a £15million bid for Rennes’ midfielder Benjamin André, and a formal offer is to be tabled this coming week.

The Reds have seen their efforts to land RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita hit the rocks, and it seems boss Jurgen Klopp still desires to add a blocking midfielder to his ranks this summer.

The little-known Andre has surprisingly been unpopular despite his extraordinary qualities.

Last term, the 27-year-old Frenchman made a whopping 329 interceptions in the French Ligue, and has been scouted extensively by Liverpool.

Andre is also excellent in aerial duels, laying passes and making timely tackles. He joined Rennes back in 2014 from Ajaccio, and has played well over 90 Ligue 1 matches.

He is under contract with Rennes until 2022, but getting him to leave for a club like Liverpool would be a piece of cake.

Could this be a perfect replacement for Naby Keita for Liverpool after all their troubles?
