According to reports, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez’s aims to raise £20 million to bolster his side are being hampered by the salaries that his unwanted players earn.
The Magpies have struggled to sell players this summer and this has hampered their efforts in managing to sign a proven striker who can support Dwight Gayle in scoring goals for the club this season.
Unwanted players Manuel Riviere and Massadio Haidara’s sales to Metz and Saint Etienne have broken down respectively.
The club have also been unable to find buyers for Achraf Lazaar, Tim Krul and Henri Saviet and may be forced to loan them out in order to free up space within the squad.
Benitez is currently paying the price for mistakes made by managers before he arrived at St James Park. However on the bright side, the club will certainly make some sales before the end of the summer which may help him in his efforts to bring in more signings.
