Leeds reportedly in talks with Champions League team over the transfer of £19million-rated star

According to reports, Leeds United are in talks with Turkish club Besiktas over a surprise move for Chris Wood.

The 25-year-old Wood finished last season as the Championship top goal scorer with 27 goals to his name.

In addition to Besiktas, Premier League sides Swansea, Stoke and Southampton have also been reported to be interested in the New Zealand international. Besiktas boss Senol Gunes reportedly views Wood as a suitable replacement for Vincent Aboubaker.

Wood’s performances attracted the interest of Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjin in January, though the Whites rejected the advances.

Whites boss Thomas Christiansen will be hoping to keep Wood as he looks to challenge for promotion during the upcoming season.

The player’s current contract at Elland Road runs until the summer of 2019 and he has been valued by the Yorkshire club at around £19 million.

It is unlikely that Leeds will be wanting to sell, however should the club manage to land Alvaro Negredo and if is Wood keen on the move, it could happen.
