Tony Xia dispels rumours about Aston Villa signing 26-year-old

Aston Villa boss, Tony Xia has quelled rumours regarding the club’s interest in signing up Danny Batth for this summer.

The Aston Villa chief has stated on Twitter that the rumour regarding Danny Batth being included in the team is false, according to the Daily Mail Website.

At present, Aston Villa have to contend with James Chester, Chris Samba and John Terry for the main central defence position, after having sold Nathan Baker.

While Tommy Elphick and Micah Richards are close contenders for the position, the former’s exit is being expected due to Sunderland and the Blues being interested in him.

Aston Villa’s decision to not consider Batth comes in wake of the defender’s shaky position at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The signing up of defenders, Roderic Miranda and Willy Boly by Nuno Espirito Santo, the new manager of Wolves, clearly indicate the club’s reluctance in relying on Batth alone.

Besides Aston Villa, Sheffield and Hull are two other clubs that are considering inclusion of the Wolves defender.

With Batth having signed a four year agreement at Molineux in the previous (2015-2016) season, the Villans will have to pay a huge fee to avail his services, which may well be the reason behind Tony Xia’s denial.
