Koeman reportedly explains to the Everton board why they need to make record breaking signing

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly informed the board of Everton that Gylfi Sigurdsson can help his club to clinch Champions League football next season.

The Toffees have shown their determination to reach the top four next season by spending close to £100 million to sign the likes of Cuco Martina, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaasen.

Sigurdsson is also believed to be one of their priority targets with Swansea said to be demanding £50 million for their prized asset.

Koeman is now said to be keen on landing the Iceland international Sigurdsson in order to boost is side’s chances of Champions League football and wants to give him the number 10 role that is set to be vacated by Ross Barkley, who looks destined to join Spurs before the start of the new season.

Everton qualified for the Europa League this season after finishing seventh in the Premier League last term and Koeman believes that he can help them complete the step up to Europe’s elite club competition.
