Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot has said that he will not let the fact that a number of keepers are linked with his club affect him.
The Magpies have made no secret of their desire to add a new shot-stopper to their squad ahead of the new season and have been linked with a host of players.
The Republic of Ireland international Elliot missed the majority of last season through injury but he managed to regain the first choice position at the club towards the end of last term from Karl Darlow and is the favorite to start the new season as the Rafa Benitez’s first choice.
Eliot has now revealed that he will carry on focusing on his job even though a number of keepers have been linked with his club and said, “There are already a lot of keepers at the club, so when the rumours start flying around you can’t really worry.
“You just have to work hard, take your chances in games, play well and try and try to remind the manager you want to be No 1.
“You do need to have three keepers and the manager obviously wants to bring another one in. But that happens at every club. It doesn’t change the way I feel.”
