26-year-old explains why he made a surprise summer move to Wolverhampton Wanderers

Roderick Miranda has revealed that he jumped at the chance to join Wolverhampton Wanderers from Rio Ave, as the move provides him with an opportunity to achieve his dream of playing in the Premier League.

Miranda had previously worked with Wolves manager Nuno at Rio Ave and he was one of the many reinforcements that the Portuguese manager has made to the side this summer as they look to launch a promotion push next season.

The 26-year-old Miranda is a product of the youth development system of Portuguese giants Benfica. He left the club in 2013 to link up with Rio Ave and his now concerned about using his opportunities with Wolves to reach his dream of playing in the Premier League.

Explaining his move to England, he said, “The Championship is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe and the largest players supplier of the English first-tier. All games are very closely watched, stadiums are full, so it’s not a setback.

“We have to be realistic: I would have less chance of playing in the Premier League if I played for Rio Ave. This is not something that bothers me, I want to continue to evolve here in England, where there is the most exciting league and where everyone wants to be.”
