West Ham manager Bilic explains the reason behind attacker’s transfer

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that the offer that his club received from Middlesbrough for striker Ashley Fletcher was too good to turn down.

Fletcher was reportedly given permission to depart from the Hammers team that is doing pre-season training in Germany in order to travel back to England and seal his £7 million move to Boro.

Bilic, who played a crucial role in bringing Fletcher to the London Stadium, has now admitted that the reason behind selling Fletcher was due to the fact that the offer which the club received from Boro was too good to reject.

The Croatian said, “He got a fantastic offer last night, “Ideally I wanted to have a different scenario but the offer was so good and I told him to be proud.”

The 21-year-old recently fell down the pecking order at the East London club following the arrivals of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez. As a result, he would have been unlikely to taste regular game time next season and this move will allow him the opportunity to reignite his career.
