Liverpool boosted as they can reportedly sign defensive target for £26.8million

As reported by Calcio Mercato, Liverpool have been given the “green light” in their pursuit of OGC Nice Brazilian defender Henrique Dalbert.

The left-back is a transfer target of Inter Milan and Liverpool and he will only be allowed to leave the Ligue One club if his €30million buy-out clause is met by suitors.

This is according to Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere who told L’Equipe , “Some clubs can’t afford to sign him. A few months ago everybody was laughing at our release clauses, today nobody laughs anymore, because release clauses are the guarantees that our players will be leaving on our conditions. We are in a comfortable position right now.”

Inter Milan are said to be favorites to land Dalbert having reportedly reached a verbal agreement with him.

However, the San Siro outfit aren’t willing to meet Nice’s €30million asking price, and negotiations have stalled.

Liverpool recently recruited former Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson for £10million, and it cannot be ascertained if they are still in the market for another with Alberto Moreno linked with an exit.

Dalbert, though, is the total defensive package given his abilities. The Brazilian is an excellent tackler, dribbler, passer and crosser; some key qualities Liverpool could do with at left-back.

With Nice’s stance on their man hindering Inter, the Anfield outfit have a chance to make a swoop.
