Liverpool will allow flop to leave this summer confirms Klopp

It is safe to say the Liverpool career of Serbia international Lazar Markovic has come to an end after Jurgen Klopp officially declared he is for sale.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the German manager said of the 23-year-old, “With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too. There will be a club out there who needs him.”

In the summer of 2014, Markovic arrived at Anfield from Benfica for £20million as a very promising player, but hasn’t been able to live up to expectations since.

Loan moves to Fenerbahçe Sporting Lisbon and Hull City didn’t end up convincing enough, and the club now wants a permanent goodbye.

His most recent loan with the Tigers was his last chance to impress Klopp after he left Lisbon in January, but his 2 goals in 14 appearances could not do that.

Markovic featured in Liverpool’s friendly against Tranmere earlier this month, but he was dropped for the tour in Hong Kong. He is clearly not in the manager’s plans and is now surplus to requirements.

Perhaps, including a buy-back clause in any deal that takes him away from Anfield would be foresightful just in case he ever lives up to the hype in the future.
