Everton reportedly beat off competition from Tottenham and Man City to complete another transfer

According to reports, Everton are nearing a deal to complete the signature of highly rated Newcastle United defender Lewis Gibson.

The Toffees have reportedly agreed a deal worth to be in the region of £6 million to secure the services of the England youth international Gibson, though they have yet to finalize terms.

The defender has reportedly turned down interest from Tottenham, Southampton and Manchester City among other clubs in order to link up with the Merseyside outfit.

Gibson was reportedly a top target of Everton’s under-23 head of recruitment and joins Josh Bowler, Boris Mathis and Nathangelo Markelo in arriving at Goodison Park this summer.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has developed a reputation for nurturing young talent into stars as he did with the likes of Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman last term and this probably appealed to Gibson. The chances are high that Gibson will receive regular playing time with the under 23’s next season.
