This Wednesday, July 19, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) Roma will play PSG at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan for a match in the 2017 International Champions Cup. Both teams came very close to winning the title in their respective leagues last season and will be title contenders once again in this upcoming season.
Roma challenged Juventus for the Serie A crown in the 16-17 Serie A season, finishing in second with 87 points, just four points back of champions. The Wolves have had a very busy off season, with some key departures like Francesco Totti, who retired and Antonio Rudiger, who is now at Chelsea. Some of the key additions that Eusebio Di Francesco has brought in this offseason include Maxime Gonalons from Lyon and the Mexican centre-back, Hector Moreno from the Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven.
It will be interesting to see if Moreno does get his debut with the club in this game and how he can contribute to the Serie A side this season. The game should be evenly matched and be a worthy test for the Italian side heading into next season.
PSG had a disappointing 16-17 Ligue 1 campaign, finishing in second behind Monaco, which was not expected at the beginning of last season. Even with Monaco being the current French champions, PSG is still expected to lift the trophy with the extremely talented squad it has. The Parisians recently made a huge transfer by signing Dani Alves to solidify the already rigid back line that features players like Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.
That with the potent attack and solid midfield should make Unai Emery’s team a force in the Ligue 1 and a dangerous team in the UEFA Champions League. This match will serve as outstanding preparation for the French side and should provide a great spectacle for the fans.
