Everton reportedly set to activate £26.7 million release clause for attacker; Alternative to Sigurdsson?

According to reports, Everton are set to beat Swansea in the race to sign Las Palmas star Jonathan Viera and will trigger the players release clause.

Ronald Koeman is determined to make his side capable of finishing in the top four next season and has already spent more than £100 million on bolstering his side and brought the likes of Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen to the side.

It now appears that they are not ending their transfer activity soon and are looking to trigger Viera’s £26.7 million release clause.

Swansea are reportedly targeting Viera as a possible replacement for the influential Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is said to want to leave the club and join Everton but Toffees now seem to have targeted a move for Viera instead.

The 27-year-old Sigurdsson is arguably now at the prime of his career and now is the right time for him to join a club that can offer him a taste of European football but with Swansea refusing to budge on their asking price, Everton are planning to sign Viera.
