According to reports, Newcastle have agreed a deal with Norwich City to sign Jacob Murphy for £12 million. The youngster is one of Rafa Benitez’s main targets this summer as he attempts to bolster his side ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Murphy recently starred for the England under-21’s during the European Championships in Poland, helping his country reach the semi-finals and the Magpies are thought to have had an earlier bid of £8 million rejected.
The 22-year-old Murphy is a product of the Canaries youth development system and has previously spent time on loan with Swindon, Southend, Scunthorpe, Coventry and Colchester.
Murphy will be keen on the move as this provides him with an opportunity to make a step up to the Premier League. It will now depend on the player himself to prove that he has what it takes to succeed in top flight football.
