Wayne Rooney speaks about Ross Barkley’s future at Everton

New Everton signing Wayne Rooney has revealed that he would love to see Ross Barkley remain at Goodison Park.

The 23-year-old Barkley failed to meet a deadline given to him by manager Ronald Koeman to sign a new contract with the club and his future is currently a subject of speculation, with him strongly linked with a move to Tottenham.

Koeman has also reportedly lost patience with Barkley and is considering a move for Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson as his replacement.

However, Rooney said that he wishes to see Barkley remain at the Merseyside club, saying, “With the ability that Ross has, of course we all want him to be a part of what we’re trying to achieve at Everton.

“He can help us get better but the decision about his future is down to him. I’m sure he will speak to the manager and do what’s right for him.”
