Aston Villa reportedly interested in £1.5million swoop for midfielder from Swedish league

According to reports, Aston Villa are among the clubs that are interested in signing midfielder Jamie Hopcutt from Ostersund.

Hopcutt caught the attention of a number of club’s following his heroics during Ostersund’s surprise 2-0 win over Turkish giants Galatasary on Thursday.

He also helped Ostersund to win the Swedish Cup by shocking Norrkoping in the final to earn a place in the Europa League.

The attacking midfielder has established himself as one of the top talents in Sweden, and considering his exploits, he is bound to leave the club in the near future.

After joining Ostersund in 2012, Hopcutt has gone on to play 109 games for the club, scoring 39 goals and contributing 14 assists in the process.

In addition to Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolves are also said to be interested in signing Hopcutt who will cost around £1.5 million, a fee which can be considered a bargain to many English clubs.
