Newcastle United man reportedly snubs new contract offer

French forward Yoan Gouffran is set to join Turkish Goztepe SK despite having been offered a new deal by Newcastle United.

Gouffran’s contract with the Magpies recently expired and it is believed that he has held successful talks with the newly promoted Turkish outfit.

The 31-year-old Gouffran had a decent season last term, scoring several goals and contributing five assists to help the club to Premier League promotion.

He was reportedly offered a new deal to remain at St James Park, but it now looks like he has opted for a move to Turkey instead.

Goztepe club president Mehmet Sepil revealed that his club are in advanced talks with a number of players and added that he expects a deal for Gouffran to go through.

Judging by the fact that Gouffran is set to join the Turkish side, it is fair to say that the contract he was offered by the Magpies probably was not lucrative.
