New Celtic signing Olivier Ntcham has revealed that his fellow Frenchman Moussa Dembele helped convince him to sign for the Hoops.
The 21-year-old Ntcham has joined Brendan Rodgers side from Manchester City for £4.5 million and becomes the club’s most expensive signing in a decade.
After signing a four year deal at Parkhead, he becomes the club’s third significant of the summer after Kundai Benyu and Jonny Hayes also penned deals with the Hoops.
Ntcham and Dembele know each other well with the duo having played together since they were 14 years old. Most recently, they were team-mates for the France under 21 side.
Following his arrival, Ntcham said that Dembele played a role in his decision to link up with the Hoops, stating, “I spoke to Moussa and also Dedryck Boyata before I joined the club.
“Moussa told me it was great to win everything and that he was happy here. I have known him and played with him since we were 14 years old in the French national team.
“He has told me about the atmosphere at Celtic Park and that the fans are unbelievable, and about the Rangers games here in Glasgow. It is a very exciting challenge to join a club who were unbeatable last season. I hope we can do it again.”
