This Wednesday, July 12, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific) the United States will host Martinique at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida for a group stage match in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Both teams are undefeated so far in the competition and will look to keep that going after this encounter.
The United States had a disappointing start to the 2017 Gold Cup, tying 1-1 against Panama on July 8. Dom Dwyer of the MLS side, Sporting KC provided the lone goal for the Americans that earned the point for the host nation. The home team did not have an impressive showing against Panama, having slightly more possession and only four shots on goal. The United States must get a win here, against a weaker opposition than Panama to get through to the next round.
Martinique had a solid start to its 2017 Gold Cup campaign defeating Nicaragua 2-0. Former Seattle Sounder, Kevin Parsemain and Steeven Langil, who plays in Belgium provided the goals for the Island nation. The Caribbean side did have a nice start to the Gold Cup tournament but should not be able to provide a competitive game against the United States.
