Newcastle reportedly set to battle West Ham for 26-year-old striker

According to reports, Newcastle United are willing to battle West Ham in the race to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray.

The 26-year-old Gray has just one year remaining on his current deal at Turf Moor and has yet to reach an agreement with his club over signing a new contract.

The Wolverhampton born Gray scored nine goals in the Premier League last season and his performances have attracted the interest of clubs including West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur as well as Everton. Now it appears that the Magpies have also entered the race to sign him.

Gray and his representatives have reportedly held talks with Burnley over signing a new deal at the club, however the player is said to be demanding a hefty pay rise in order to remain with the team.

Since joining the Clarets from Brentford two years ago, Gray has helped the club win promotion to the Premier League and also has established himself as the club’s first choice striker.
