Celtic face major injury blow during pre-season friendly

Celtic have a massive two-legged tie in the Champions League Second Qualifying Round that begins next week, and manager Brendan Rodgers might be forced to be without one of his key central defenders after an injury sustained in a 0-0 draw with Slavia Prague today.

Center back Dedryck Boyata, a former Manchester City man that was let go by the club, was forced off before the end of the first half against the Czech side.

He picked up a knee injury after colliding near the touchline with another player, and looks set to be a big worry now.

This is bad news, as a lot of Celtic’s season depends on the Champions League qualifiers.

Without making it out of them and into the group stage proper, the club might lose players, as well as undermining all of the good they did last season. So this could be pivotal moment, even at this early point in the season!
