The Argentine giants, River Plate, has been adjusting its squad, specifically looking for a new striker with Sebastian Driussi set to join Russian side, Zenit St Petersburg. The 21-year-old was River Plate’s top scorer in the 2016-2017 season with 17 goals and will need a prominent replacement for the upcoming campaign.

Los Millonarios seem to have found Driussi’s replacement as according to TYC Sports Ignacio Scocco from Newell’s Old Boys will join the Buenos Aires side. The veteran stood out in the 2016-2017 campaign with Santa Fe scoring 12 goals. Scocco, 32, offers a wealth of experience, his career dating back to 2003 playing across the globe in Argentina, Mexico, Greece, Abu Dhabi, Brazil, and England.

The Argentinian striker had a decent stint in the Liga MX with Pumas UNAM from 2006-2008 where he scored 18 goals in 53 appearances for the Mexico City side. Scocco has managed to stay consistent even at this late stage of his career and will now have a huge responsibility being Marcelo Gallardo’s main offensive option. The move is a vital one for River Plate and Ignacio Scocco and it will be interesting to see how the veteran does in place of the young phenom, Sebastian Driussi.
