While Liga MX teams can no longer negotiate among themselves the international market is in full swing and many players and teams are taking advantage of that. In the Liga MX Draft, Egidio Arevalo could not find a club that was willing to pay his high wages and now the Argentine club, Racing Club has made a move for the veteran.

The Uruguayan midfielder had a successful Clausura 2017 campaign evading relegation with Veracruz and almost making the playoffs. Arevalo was a huge component of the team controlling the midfield in that defensive slot making a potent partnership with Cristian Pellerano. The South American player has had a long and illustrious career in the Liga MX, playing for seven different teams including Club Tijuana, Monterrey and Tigres UANL.

At 35-years-old, the Uruguayan has kept a consistent level of play dating back to almost a decade and is revered as a true professional on the pitch. Perhaps. Fidel Kuri and the Veracruz board did make a mistake by not re-signing Arevalo Rios but now the Uruguayan is on his way to Racing Club in Argentina. La Academia had a solid season in Argentina, finishing seventh with 52 points but will look to buy some players with key players like Marcos Acuna and Gustavo Bou departing the club.

Arevalo Rios will not arrive alone to Buenos Aires as Chiapas’ defender, David Patino is also said to have made a move to Avellaneda. Racing Club is coached by former Santos Laguna head coach, Diego Cocca and it will be interesting to see how these moves make an impact on the club.
