Everton captain Phil Jagielka is encouraged by his team’s transfer activity and has revealed that he expects several new signings to arrive at the Merseyside club this summer.
After an impressive season during which they finished seventh in the League, the Toffees are looking to add in new players to their squad as they prepare for Europa League action as well as to challenge for a place in the Champions League next season.
Thus far, the club have already added highly rated England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as well as Netherlands international Davy Klaasen to their ranks.
The veteran Jagielka has now said of his team’s transfer activities, “It’s nice to get some business done. Obviously we know we’re going to be in Europe so we need a slightly bigger squad.
“I’m sure there’ll be plenty more ins and outs before the transfer window shuts, but it’s nice to see that we’ve managed to get a few players in. Quite a few young lads as well, for the club moving forward, which is fantastic.
“I’m sure I won’t see them for a few weeks, most of them are still playing in the Under-21 [European Championship] tournament. It’s nice to see the club are progressing well.”
Pickford is believed to have joined the club for a figure in the region of £25 million while Klaasen is believed to have been bought for £23.7 million.
