Newcastle United reportedly very close to signing another African midfielder

Daily Star reports that Afriyie Acquah is set to become a new addition to Rafa Benitez’ team, and this African midfielder could arrive on a permanent deal from Torino.

The 25-year-old African player has caused media turbulence by stating that he is “likely to move to England,” accompanying his words by following the Newcastle United official Twitter account. Acquah also reportedly stated that the move is 90% done and that he will be leaving Italy during the summer.

The Ghanaian international has had an impressive season with Torino, where he played with the likes of Joe Hart and Andrea Belotti. The combative midfielder even managed to score two goals in his 20 appearances.

If the transfer to Newcastle United does take place eventually, the Magpies will add another Ghanaian to their ranks, after securing the signature of Christian Atsu from Chelsea in the previous month.
