Just a day after The Sun reported, Liverpool is interested in a double swoop of RB Leipzig duo Naby Keita and Timo Werner; The Independent’s counter report claims that RB Leipzig is unwilling to sell their best players.
Klopp is looking to strengthen his midfield with one of his top transfer targets Naby Keita, while Timo Werner’s adds to the attacking prowess of Liverpool with 21 goals last season in the Bundesliga, just short of the likes of Anthony Modeste, Robert Lewandowski, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick, speaking to Bild refuted any rumors of his best players leaving the club: “We’re not thinking about selling our best players this summer…there’s no red line for us. We will keep our team and improve it in several positions”.
The statement made it clear that they do not require additional finances from sales of such players and will build a robust team with their best players.
RB Leipzig’s reluctance to sell will not fend off Liverpool’s interest so easily but might see the Reds willing to spend an excessive amount of money to sign the duo.
